"I'd been reading about dividends for a couple of years without really understanding what I was reading. Stage 1 was the first time someone explained yield and tax in a way that made both feel connected. The worked examples from SET companies made the difference — I could follow along with things I actually recognised."

"The watchlist exercise in Stage 2 was what I came for, and it delivered. We weren't handed a list of recommended stocks — we built our own, step by step, using criteria we'd developed during the workshops. Mine isn't perfect, but it's mine, and I know why each company is on it. That feels different from just copying someone else's picks."

"I joined Stage 3 after completing the first two stages over about six months. The capstone plan was the most useful part — it pushed me to write down my actual priorities and constraints rather than thinking about them in the abstract. Prawit's advisory calls were direct and useful; he answered questions I hadn't thought to ask during class."

"What I appreciated most was that no one ever told me what to do with my money. That's probably an unusual thing to say about a finance course, but it mattered to me. The instructors were there to explain and answer questions — not to steer us toward any particular action. I left Stage 1 better informed and still entirely in control of my own decisions."

"The comparison between stocks and mutual funds in Stage 2 was something I hadn't been able to find explained properly anywhere else. Most resources online treat them as separate topics. Here, the workshop actually put numbers on the cost, yield, and convenience trade-offs using Thai funds I could look up myself. That made it immediately practical."

"I was a little uncertain before Stage 3 — it's a significant time commitment. But the structure of the sessions meant the content built logically rather than just being a lot of material thrown at you. The Q&A support afterwards was also more useful than I expected. I had questions that came up weeks after the course ended, and they were answered properly."

How Participants Have Used the Programme

These accounts describe the situation participants were in before joining, what they found useful, and where they ended up. Names are used with permission.

Approaching Retirement with Savings but No Plan

Starting Point

Somchai, 58, had accumulated savings across several bank deposits and was approaching voluntary early retirement. He had heard about dividends but wasn't sure whether they were relevant to his situation or how to evaluate them.

What He Did

He completed all three stages over eight months, moving at his own pace. He found Stage 2 the most intellectually demanding but said the watchlist exercise gave him something concrete to refer to. His advisory calls in Stage 3 helped him think through allocation for a five-to-ten-year income horizon.

Where He Ended Up

He describes himself as more confident reading SET announcements and better equipped to have conversations with his bank's investment team. He has not rushed into any decisions — which, he notes, was partly the point of doing the courses first.

Understanding an Inherited Portfolio

Starting Point

Wipada, 52, inherited a portfolio of SET-listed shares from her father and found herself holding positions she didn't fully understand. Several of the companies were long-standing dividend payers, but she wasn't sure how to evaluate whether to hold, adjust, or exit.

What She Did

She joined Stage 1 to build vocabulary, then Stage 2 to develop a framework for evaluating the companies she'd inherited. She found the payout ratio and sustainability content in Stage 2 directly applicable to what she was holding.

Where She Ended Up

She now reads company dividend announcements herself and has a clearer picture of which positions she wants to hold long-term. She is considering Stage 3 once she has spent more time with the stage 2 materials.
